Should You Buy Now or Wait for Interest Rates to Drop?

It’s one of the most common questions in real estate right now: Should I buy a home now, or wait for interest rates to come down?
The truth is, no one can perfectly predict where mortgage rates will be six months or a year from now. And waiting for the “perfect” rate can sometimes mean overlooking an opportunity that makes sense today.
A lower interest rate is certainly important, but it’s only one piece of the home-buying decision.
Today’s market across Georgetown, Round Rock, Liberty Hill, and Central Texas may offer buyers something we haven’t always had in recent years: choices and negotiating opportunities.
Depending on the property and the seller’s circumstances, buyers may have an opportunity to negotiate on price, closing costs, repairs, or even ask for concessions that can help reduce the cost of financing.
And if rates eventually come down? Refinancing may be an option. But the home you want, in the neighborhood you love, at a price that works for your family may not still be available.
The better question may not be, “What are interest rates going to do?”
It may be: “Does buying a home today make sense for my life, my finances, and my long-term goals?”
Real estate decisions should be made with good information, careful planning, and an understanding of the entire picture—not fear of what the market might do next.
And in a changing market, having an experienced agent with the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to help evaluate the options can make all the difference.
